Designed as a direct replacement for Music Man-style pickups on 5-string basses, the EMG MM5TW is an active model designed for musicians who like to have several options at their fingertips. This pickup features 2 distinct voicings, instantly accessible via a simple push/pull. In humbucker mode, it provides great bass depth and a wide sound, thanks to its spread coils and wide magnetic field. Perfect for thick slap lines or sustained fingerstyle grooves.
But the real twist is its single coil mode. Here, the MM5TW adopts the character of an EMG J pickup, with a stronger midrange presence and precise articulation. This configuration is ideal for more dynamic lines, funk, fusion or even chordal playing.
The built-in active preamp ensures a clean, harmonically rich signal, with no unwanted noise. What's more, like all EMG pickups, installation is solderless. The MM5TW lets you expand your sound palette without changing instruments.
