The EMG SJCS Bridge Black is for those who want to make their jazz bass a little darker without losing any definition. This short-format active pickup replaces a conventional bridge, adding more body and a more subdued top end. You get more roundness without losing the groove.
The combination of ceramic magnet and steel structure gives a dense, slightly compressed colour, perfect for thick lines, muffled cocoons or fingernail-felted grooves. Its attack remains supple, with a less shrill presence than on a standard J pickup. The 3.2 kHz frequency is in keeping with this philosophy: more mellowness, less aggression.
EMG's J preamp works silently. With a noise floor of -99 dB, low impedance (10 kΩ), and a battery life of 3,000 hours on a single 9V battery, this is a component you forget about... until you record. Its moderate output level (1 V) gives a natural dynamic range, but it can handle up to 27 V for the more adventurous.
Designed for 4 or 5 string formats, this pickup can be fitted to any Jazz Bass with a string width of up to 69.2 mm. Installation? Child's play. Cables, pots, screws and connectors are all supplied for clean, solder-free installation.
