Presentation
Expressive E's introduction of the Osmose 61 marks a significant step forward, responding to musicians' need for an expressive instrument with a wider range. The addition of an octave, taking the keyboard to 61 full-size notes, extends harmonic and melodic freedom for complex arrangements and live performances.
Unrivalled technical expressiveness
The Osmose 61 retains and amplifies the innovation that made the 49-key model such a success: its expressive 3D keyboard. Designed entirely by Expressive E, this keyboard sets a new benchmark for MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) instruments. Each note is a natural extension of the performer, reacting with finesse to velocity, press, pitch bend, vibrato, pressure glide and aftertouch. Osmose is designed natively around the MPE standard, redefining its implementation.
The EaganMatrix Sound Core
The synth engine is Haken Audio's legendary EaganMatrix. This powerful environment delivers acoustic textures and complex synthetic sounds. The EaganMatrix is extremely versatile, supporting physical modelling, subtractive synthesis, FM, and many other architectures. With 580 factory presets available and the ability to store up to 2048 presets, Osmose offers a rich sonic palette, complemented by quality built-in effects such as reverb, delay and EQ.
Studio and stage ready
The Osmose 61 is designed to be both a professional standalone instrument and the centrepiece of a studio. It features a high-quality interface with a colour screen and six encoders. Its integration is facilitated by DIN MIDI inputs and outputs, a USB port, two assignable continuous pedal inputs, and balanced TRS line audio outputs.
A European Ecosystem and Quality
Beyond the instrument itself, Osmose is part of a living ecosystem that continues to evolve. Expressive E is committed to constantly improving the user experience through regular firmware updates. This ecosystem is enriched by software collaborations with renowned companies (such as U-He, UVI and KiloHearts) and proprietary software designed specifically for Osmose, such as Soliste and Noisy 2. Finally, to guarantee uncompromising quality, Expressive E has brought its production in-house by opening a new factory in Poland. This decision ensures compliance with the highest European quality standards, giving the French company greater freedom to innovate.
Help with choosing: Osmose 49 vs Osmose 61
The choice between the original 49-note version and the new Osmose 61 depends largely on the musician's playing style and environment. Both models offer the same level of innovation, unrivalled expressivity (3D keyboard) and the powerful EaganMatrix engine. The 61-note version is clearly optimised for users who need more melodic and harmonic freedom. It's ideal for pianists used to playing with both hands, for complex arrangements, and for live performers where an extra octave is crucial for tessitura. If, on the other hand, studio space, portability or budget are key factors, the 49-note model offers the full, revolutionary expressive experience in a more compact format.

About Expressive E
Expressive E is a French manufacturer of electronic instruments whose mission is to improve the way musicians interact with sounds by creating much more intuitive and powerful music creation tools.
Their aim is to enable a seamless connection between artists and their instruments.
Expressive E created the award-winning Touché and Touché SE MIDI controllers, as well as the Arché range of modelled instruments and multiple creative soundbanks, including the MPE collection.
Its first stand-alone hardware synthesizer, Osmose, sets a new standard for musical expressiveness and pushes the boundaries of keyboard creativity. This easy-to-use electronic instrument
that opens up new ways of controlling sound using familiar gestures (press, bend, shake, etc.). Osmose offers multi-dimensional control of every note while respecting the original skills of the keyboard player.
About Haken Audio
Prior to the partnership with Expressive E, Haken Audio's EaganMatrix sound engine was exclusive to the company's Continuum Fingerboard and ContinumMini instruments.
The members of the Haken Audio team each have more than 25 years' experience in experimental sound design.
Founder Dr Lippold Haken began working on the Continuum in the early 1980s, and over the past decade has worked with Edmund Eagan to develop the EaganMatrix, a modular synthesiser-inspired sound engine optimised for the three-dimensional finger movements of the Continuum Fingerboard.
