Hagstrom - Nekromant 5 Black Gloss

Treat yourself to the Hagstrom Nekromant 5 Black Gloss, a 5-string electric bass that offers bassists an extended low-end range and real freedom to shape their lines. Its mahogany body features an asymmetrical Single Cut shape and is paired with a mahogany neck joined using a mortise-and-tenon joint. The 34" (864 mm) scale length retains a familiar feel for bass playing, with a neck thickness of 19 mm at the first fret and 20.5 mm at the twelfth. The Resinator™ fingerboard features a 15" (381 mm) radius, 20 medium-jumbo frets and Hagstrom Block inlays in synthetic mother-of-pearl. The 44.5 mm GraphTech™ Black Tusq XL nut is spaced to suit the five-string configuration.

With its low B string, this bass allows you to go lower in your riffs and grooves or shift certain phrases up the neck without changing the tuning. The two passive Gehenna soapbar-style humbuckers deliver warmth, clarity and balance, with a blend control to adjust their presence in the sound. The 3-band preamp offers cut/boost controls for bass, midrange and treble, as well as preamp gain and master volume. The active/passive switch allows you to switch from a sound shaped by the preamp to an approach more centred on the pickups, depending on your preferences and playing style.

For bassists who like to switch between a fingerstyle groove and a more direct pick attack, the Nekromant 5 therefore offers plenty of scope to explore. Its Hagstrom Custom CNC brass bridge features individually adjustable roller saddles to fine-tune the intonation of each string, whilst the Hagstrom tuning machines with a 22:1 ratio make tuning adjustments easy. The string set (B .130 / E .100 / A .080 / D .065 / G .045) is supplied with the 5-string model, and the nickel-plated black Dome Speed knobs complement the Black Gloss finish.
