Hagstrom - Viking Bass White Gloss

The Hagstrom Viking Bass White Gloss is a 4-string semi-hollow bass guitar that captures the spirit of one of the brand’s historic models, introduced in 1965 as the Concord Bass. Its multi-ply maple body and semi-hollow design give it an instantly recognisable look, whilst the short 30.75” (781 mm) scale length offers a playing feel distinct from that of a standard-scale bass. The Canadian hard maple neck features a long mortise-and-tenon joint and the H-Expander™ truss rod, a Hagstrom design that runs the full length of the neck and acts at both ends. This construction ensures a slim, stable neck, whilst contributing to the distinctive tonal character of Hagstrom instruments.

In terms of sound, the Viking Bass features two Dyna-Rail humbucker pickups specially tuned for this model. Its 6-position rotary selector switch offers a range of configurations: neck and bridge pickups in single-coil mode, either the neck or bridge pickup in single-coil mode, both pickups in humbucker mode, or each humbucker used separately. This design offers a particularly wide range of tones, with numerous possibilities for shaping the bass’s character to suit the song. The two volume controls and two tone controls then allow for fine-tuning.

The Resinator™ fingerboard completes this design with a homogeneous and stable composite material, offering a clear and articulate tone as well as good note definition. The 15" radius, 21 medium jumbo frets and 40 mm GraphTech Black Tusq XL nut all contribute to the instrument’s ergonomics. Finally, the Long Travel Tune-O-Matic bridge, combined with the Hagstrom trapezoid tailpiece and Hagstrom tuners with a 17:1 ratio, round off a bass designed with as much attention to its visual identity as to the richness of its tonal possibilities.
