Jet Guitars - JS 300 Plum

A luthier who works with wood can recognise torrefied poplar by touch — drier than green wood, lighter in appearance, yet denser in reality. Jet Guitars has built the JS 300 Plum entirely from this material: body, sides, back and neck. What heat treatment does to the wood can be explained in simple terms by physics — the resins migrate, the cellulose crystallises, and what was once soft in the mid-range tightens up. The attack comes across as drier. The sustain, however, holds up.
The rosewood fingerboard introduces a variable here that the other models in the series do not have. A porous wood, rich to the touch, it softens what the roasted maple accentuates — the high harmonics blend rather than cut through, whilst the lower midrange gains body. With a radius of 241.3 mm, a nut width of 41.9 mm and a Modern C profile, the neck isn’t designed to impress; it simply fits the hand. The double-action truss rod and the bone/polymer fibre nut — standard on the 300 series since 2025 — ensure long-lasting intonation. 22 frets on a scale length of 647.7 mm.
The SSS ceramic pickup configuration, wired for 5 positions — 1 volume, 2 tone controls — delivers a sharper sound than one might expect from a neck like this. The vibrato tremolo bridge, matt chrome hardware and black pickguard set the visual tone: this is a guitar that doesn’t set out to please everyone.
