Lindell Audio - 77X-500

The Lindell Audio 77X-500 is the advanced stereo version of the acclaimed 7X-500, designed specifically for mix bus, drum bus and subgroup applications. It takes the iconic FET architecture of the 1176 compressors and adds continuous attack and release controls, essential for precise work on complex stereo signals.

Operation can be configured in linked or unlinked stereo mode, allowing either coherent control of the stereo image or independent processing of the left and right channels. The FET transistors are matched to ensure a homogeneous and stable response, even when compressed. The circuit is based on four Vintage OPA1731 operational amplifiers, contributing to a fast, dense and typical reproduction, faithful to the desired analogue aesthetic.

The 77X-500 offers three switchable compression ratios, ranging from moderate compression to aggressive limiting in 'all in' mode. The three-position high-pass sidechain filter preserves low frequencies by preventing them from triggering excessive compression, a major advantage on rhythm busses. The integrated wet/dry mix control makes it easy to set up effective parallel compression, without the need for external routing.

Gain reduction is measured by two 20-segment LED bar graphs, providing a clear and immediate reading of the dynamic behaviour of each channel. The outputs are transformer-balanced, guaranteeing uncompromising integration into a professional 500 series environment.
