To find out more...
Marcus Miller was particularly influenced by the music scene in Brooklyn, where he grew up in the 1960s and 1970s. This urban context, rich in soul, funk and jazz, shaped his ear from childhood. The music played in the neighbourhoods, in churches and on local radio stations played an important role in his musical development. He developed an early sensitivity to groove and vocal arrangements. This cultural immersion explains why his style naturally combines urban energy and harmonic sophistication, without ever pitting tradition against modernity in his musical language.
