Presentation
When played, the Martinez MC-88C RN produces a warm, rounded tone, thanks to its solid cedar top and Indian rosewood back. The gloss polyurethane finish gives the body of this 4/4 classical guitar a natural sheen, whilst the Spanish-style neck joint transmits every vibration from the top to the strings with a rustic clarity, far removed from any industrial coldness.
The mahogany neck fits comfortably in the hand along its 650 mm scale length, extended by a rosewood fingerboard featuring mother-of-pearl markers at the 5th, 7th and 9th frets amongst the 20 frets available. The 52 mm-wide bone nut guides the six strings to the Indian rosewood bridge, which also features a bone saddle, whilst the double-action truss rod adjusts the neck’s curvature as the seasons change. At the 12th fret, the 61.5 mm scale length and string spacing of 44 mm at the nut and 60 mm at the bridge create a tight playing feel, inherited from classic Spanish luthiery.
Beneath the varnish, the Spanish fan bracing distributes the stresses of the cedar top, supported by Indian rosewood binding on both the top and back, and by maple and ebony purfling on the top, followed by maple purfling on the back and sides. The rosette, a mosaic of inlaid natural wood, frames the soundhole with a traditional design, and on the E and B strings, the extended fingerboard allows playing into the treble register without a break in the surface.
The gold-plated Martinez Gold Tuning Machines 88 keep the guitar in tune and complement the gold-plated hardware, extending all the way to the six original Martinez strings – a fitting choice for both classical and flamenco repertoire. Assembled in China under the reference MAR091K, this Standard classical guitar in a natural finish joins the SonoVente range as a solid foundation for progressing or rediscovering, in the studio, the character of Spanish guitar-making.

Since 1978, Martinez has been developing guitars that blend European tradition with Chinese production methods. The brand is based on a Spanish-style construction, featuring fan-bracing and a selection of woods associated with classical guitar-making. Its range covers several tiers, from the Standard series to the Professional and Master models. Martinez is based in Guangzhou and collaborates with European designers and luthiers. This identity combines the heritage of the classical guitar with research into materials and construction techniques. Models are available with solid cedar or spruce tops, rosewood, mahogany and a variety of finishes.
