Martinez - Torres Mahogany 3/4 RN

MARTINEZ has named its Torres Mahogany 3/4 RN after the wood combination that defines it. The solid cedar top produces a rounded low end that responds from the very first pluck of a string, whilst the mahogany back and sides round off the sound without making it harsh. This combination of cedar and mahogany gives this small body a tone reminiscent of a much larger instrument.

The 3/4 size is not simply a scaled-down version of the classic model; it reimagines the proportions to suit even smaller hands. The 615 mm scale length reduces the distance between the frets, whilst the 50 mm nut maintains a string spacing that accommodates the fingers of a child or teenager. It offers the playing experience of a full-size classical guitar, simply scaled down for a guitarist just starting to build their repertoire.

Its natural finish allows the wood grain to show through rather than covering it up, a choice well-suited to a guitar intended for classical study. It is ideal for learning arpeggios, accompaniment and the first pieces in the repertoire, played on a table without a pickup or electronics to worry about. Manufactured in China as part of MARTINEZ’s Torres series, it remains a serious entry point into classical guitar, with woods that are every bit as good as those of a larger instrument.
