Presentation
In designing the NDH 30, an 'open' version of the NDH 20, Neumann's aim was to make the acoustic qualities of Neumann's KH series loudspeakers available to its users, anywhere, on any occasion.
The NDH 30 was developed with the aim of making the reference sound of Neumann studio monitors, perfectly calibrated by the Neumann MA 1, available everywhere in the form of easily transportable headphones, making the NDH 30 a benchmark in the field of headphone sound reproduction. Its technological superiority makes the NDH 30 the first choice for mixing and mastering work. Its high level of comfort and the fact that it's open-ended mean that it can be used for long periods of time, as is often the case for high-precision editing professionals.
Its high-quality aluminium and steel construction and comfortable grip are largely the same as those of its predecessor, the NDH 20 (which is a closed headset).
Its high linearity and precision make the NDH 30 perfectly compatible with an optimally calibrated monitor system. Mixes started with the NDH 30 at home or on tour can be seamlessly continued in the studio on KH range loudspeakers. The reverse is also true, of course.

The NDH 30 has been designed to meet the needs of these target groups:
- Studios
- Music producers
- Sound engineers
- Model and home studios
- Broadcast sound engineers
- Mastering engineers
NDH 30 are open-air headphones, which means that their 38mm dynamic transducers work like acoustic dipoles. This allows optimum exploitation of their sonic characteristics: extremely fast transient response, dry bass, uncoloured midrange and crystal-clear highs. In other words, the NDH 30 reproduces the signal as it is, without any coloration of the sound.
The NDH 30 owes its superior linearity, among other things, to frequency-selective absorbers that eliminate the high-frequency hypertrophy that, in many other headphones, leads to incorrect mixing decisions. For example, if a voice is muffled or needs a de-esser, the NDH 30 will reveal this accurately.
Spatial resolution is impressive. The NDH 30 allows ultra-precise localisation in the stereo panorama and highlights the depth of the mix. To minimise crosstalk between channels, the NDH 30 is supplied with a high-quality internally balanced cable.
The NDH 30 is ideal for checking compatibility with headphones and for creating binaural mixes of immersive content (particularly for virtual reality and gaming). Because consistency and reliability are essential in mixing and mastering, the NDH 30 is manufactured to extremely tight tolerances to ensure that all headphones sound exactly the same.
