Presentation
The Patina PT-3 SGR Sherwood Green guitar is the sort of instrument that appeals to those who appreciate simple, well-made things. Its two single-coil pickups produce a sound that remains precise, with a lovely attack for rhythm playing and plenty of character for solos. It fits right in with blues, country, rock or pop. Its forest green colour adds an original touch without being over the top.
The paulownia body keeps the weight down to a reasonable level, which you’ll soon come to appreciate during back-to-back rehearsals. The nitrocellulose finish is designed to age naturally over time. The roasted maple neck features a satin finish that allows your hand to glide easily from fret to fret. The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 22 rounded-edge stainless steel jumbo frets, ideal for both bends and chords.
The hand-wound Alnico V pickups maintain good definition without making the sound harsh. With a volume and tone control, adjustments remain quick and easy. The fixed bridge provides a reassuring sense of stability when you like to strike the strings a little harder. You plug in, find your sound, and can concentrate on your playing.
The self-locking tuners minimise tuning drift when you perform big bends. The luminescent side markers remain easy to see on a dimly lit stage. D’Addario EXL110 strings in .010-.046 are fitted as standard – a very common gauge that will suit most guitarists.
