Rme - ADI-6432
The ADI-6432 converts the 64 channels of a single MADI stream into 32 AES/EBU ports and vice versa. It therefore supports the 64 channels of the MADI format up to 48 kHz, 32 channels up to 96 kHz and 16 channels up to 192 kHz. Connected to the MADI HDSP(e) interface, the ADI-6432 transforms into a powerful 32-port external AES/EBU interface. Two units together form a perfect digital multi-core solution with no need for a computer.
Presentation
Built to a height of 2 units, there is ample space for all connectors and control elements.
The compact unit is 19" wide and 2 units high and acts as a MADI to AES format converter (schematic view).
MADI handles 64 channels of 24-bit audio at sampling frequencies up to 48 kHz, 32 channels up to 96 kHz, and 16 channels up to 192 kHz.
All channels are transferred via a single cable, either coaxial (BNC) or optical network cable.
In both cases, cable lengths of over 100 metres can be achieved.
AES/EBU channels are provided as 32 AES/EBU inputs and outputs via Sub D connectors.
The ADI-6432 accepts 56 channels and 64 channels as well as a 96k frame at its input, and can be configured to generate these formats at its output.
The front panel features an exciting and detailed 97 LED sync and audio status display. In addition, each function has its own buttons with clear function LEDs. Especially in a professional application, accurate, fast and direct control and display of all incoming and outgoing signals, including MIDI and RS232, becomes essential. Errors can be detected at a glance. Control keys can be locked to prevent accidental parameter changes.

The ADI-6432 provides Single, Double and Quad Speed word clock, distributes 96 kHz Double Wire signals in the MADI data stream and even supports double MADI sample rate (96K frame). The SyncAlign ® and SyncCheck ® technologies familiar from other RME products ensure perfect synchronisation and clear error detection. In addition, multiple units can be stacked and operated aligned to the sample, using a word clock. All settings are saved when the unit is switched off.
