Rme - I64 MADI Card
The I64 MADI card provides the DMC-842 with 64-channel MADI input and output. The coaxial and optical outputs operate in parallel with the AES/EBU and ADAT outputs, providing the same data. With a MADI I64 card installed, the DMC-842 can be controlled remotely via MADI. At the same time, MIDI data is transmitted via MADI.
Presentation
The MADI input will function as an optional clock source (Clock section, OPTN) as well as a thru input. Since each DMC-842 uses only 8 channels, up to 56 channels can be transmitted. This technique is used to cascade several DMC-842s in series. Incoming MADI data is transmitted unchanged, with only one block of eight channels being replaced. This allows up to 8 devices to be connected in series. The combined 64 channels are available at the MADI output of the last device.

Using the I64 MADI card offers the possibility of using 8 channels as a return path, sending audio via MADI to the DMC-842's ADAT, AES and analogue outputs. For example, stage and studio monitors can be fed through the DMC-842. The MADI output continues to carry analogue input signals and transmitted input data.
