FILTER
The Roland n/vision synthesiser blends the digital sounds of the 1980s with a modern approach to sound design. Its evolving textures create shifting electronic soundscapes, punchy basslines and melodies with distinctive contours. Its compact size, 25-key keyboard and built-in speakers give it real freedom of movement, from the desk to the mobile studio. Combining retro aesthetics with contemporary sound design, this wavetable synthesiser opens up a playground where sounds take on new forms as your ideas evolve, without needing to be moved to find its place.
Presentation
To shape the sound, this digital synthesiser features several filter models inspired by classic machines, as well as analogue-style filtering with drive. The 17 MFX effect types round off the processing, with dedicated delay and reverb effects (hall or shimmer). This allows you to shape the colour, depth and spatial character of each sound.
The n/vision’s 2-part polyphonic sequencer records 64-step patterns, with up to 8 notes per step and per part. Recording parameter movements adds variations directly to the musical progression. This synthesiser sequencer function makes it easy to build bass lines, chords and melodic patterns that evolve over the course of the bars.
Modulation plays a key role in the Roland n/vision’s creative capabilities. The Step LFO, envelopes, oscillator modulation and wave table position settings all affect various parameters, such as pitch, the balance between layers or sound shaping. This gives you the tools you need to design evolving electronic textures, from shifting pads to more incisive timbres.
With a maximum polyphony of 56 voices, the n/vision handles arrangements that combine chords, melodic lines and layered textures, depending on the sound generator’s workload. Its memory holds 240 patches and 96 patterns. These capabilities make this polyphonic synthesiser for electronic music production a well-organised platform for storing your sounds and retrieving your musical ideas.
In terms of connectivity, Roland has modernised the standards of the 1980s, featuring a USB-C port that enables audio and MIDI exchange with a computer, tablet or smartphone. Traditional MIDI sockets facilitate communication with hardware instruments, whilst the external clock input facilitates integration into an analogue system. Powered by 4 AA batteries or via USB-C, this portable synthesiser adapts to any type of production environment, even on the move.
