The Samson CL8a is a large-diaphragm, multi-pattern condenser microphone that delivers balanced, detailed sound thanks to its custom condenser capsule. Perfect for capturing a singer, or for preserving the tone and presence of instruments such as acoustic guitar, flute or even double bass. The robust capsule and electronics are able to withstand enormous levels of sound pressure, allowing you to capture powerful low-frequency content without distortion.

Inside the CL8a capsule is a 28mm double diaphragm, sputtered with 4 microns of gold to deliver a magnificent, balanced sound.
The dual capsule design allows for a range of polar patterns, delivering superior results in almost any situation.
- The omnidirectional pattern picks up sound equally well in all directions.
There is no off-axis coloration, making it perfect for capturing ensemble musicians or singers with a single microphone.
- The cardioid pattern rejects sound from the rear and sides of the microphone, while providing excellent coverage directly in front of the microphone, ideal for capturing an expressive solo singer and preserving the presence of instruments such as acoustic guitar, flute or even double bass.
- The figure-8 offers excellent response both in front of and behind the microphone, with better rejection of lateral signals, making it an excellent choice for recording several performers, particularly in small groups. Place the microphone to the side of a snare drum, and it captures the ambience of the kit while minimising the snare drum in the lateral field.
