The FC1 MKIII is a versatile studio microphone, capable of covering a wide range of uses without imposing an overly typical signature. Its 32mm centre-terminated capsule, mounted on internal suspension, delivers a wide, coherent response across the entire bandwidth, while retaining a natural smoothness in the high frequencies. This design avoids aggressive sibilance and guarantees excellent clarity of timbre, particularly on vocals and stringed instruments.

The electronics are based on a low-noise FET stage combined with a transformer-balanced output, a choice that provides a solid foundation in the lower end of the spectrum and a feeling of density often sought after in both modern and classical productions. This topology also helps to maintain good signal stability over long cable runs, in both studio and PA environments.

The FC1 MKIII withstands high sound pressure levels, making it ideal for use in front of powerful sources such as guitar amplifiers or drums, particularly in overhead or ambient miking. The internal 100 Hz high-pass filter effectively controls vibrations, handling noise and unwanted resonances at the pick-up stage, without the need for downstream processing.

Its cardioid polar pattern ensures good isolation from the main source while maintaining a natural sound image.
