The Seymour Duncan Custom Shop 50th Anniversary Duncan Custom Limited Edition Set celebrates half a century of history from the workshop in Santa Barbara, USA. The 50th Anniversary Custom Shop series is the result of a process carried out entirely by hand by the brand’s Custom Shop. Each set retraces the company’s early days, coil by coil.

This dual-pickup set, in an HH configuration, combines two contrasting characters. At the bridge, the Duncan Custom features a ceramic magnet and boasts a DC resistance of 14.1 kΩ, connected via 4-conductor shielded wiring for medium output. At the neck, the ‘59 Model features an Alnico 5 magnet, a resistance of 7.60 kΩ and a single-conductor braided shielded cable, delivering a low output that allows the bass strings to breathe.

Under the cover, the dual-coil design sits on butyrate bobbins, mounted on a long-leg base plate and secured by maple spacers. Each bobbin is wax-coated, a process that stabilises the pickup against stage feedback.

The slightly aged aesthetic, in black and zebra colours, is reminiscent of archive pieces rather than a brand-new product. The signatures of Seymour W. Duncan and Maricela ‘MJ’ Juarez adorn each set, alongside replica ‘Seymourized’ stickers and original models. The set comes in a commemorative 50th Anniversary box, limited to 500 copies worldwide.
