Seymour Duncan - Kit Mustaine Thrash Factor Gold

Developed in collaboration with Dave Mustaine, the Seymour Duncan Mustaine Thrash Factor Gold kit draws direct inspiration from the set-up used by the guitarist whilst recording Megadeth’s famous *Rust In Peace*. At the time, Dave Mustaine was recording with a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups comprising a JB at the bridge and a ’59 at the neck. The Thrash Factor builds on this foundation whilst reproducing the distinctive sonic characteristics of that combination, with a more incisive and aggressive tone.

The Thrash Factor pickup in the bridge position is characterised by its tighter, more precise bass, slightly recessed mid-range and sharper treble. This combination delivers a crisp attack and excellent definition, which are particularly noticeable when the guitar is heavily overdriven. Palm-mutes gain in impact whilst fast riffs remain clear, even when the playing becomes particularly dense.

With its high output, the Thrash Factor delivers all the power expected for metal genres, without sacrificing the dynamics and sensitivity characteristic of a passive pickup. Solos thus retain their presence and precision, with enough character to stand out naturally within a track.

In the neck position, the kit features the SH-1n ’59 Model, which adds another sonic dimension to the overall sound. The combination of the two pickups allows you to switch from an incisive, aggressive sound at the bridge to a more musical tone at the neck, whilst maintaining consistency between the two positions.

With its gold finish, this kit combines the tonal character sought by Dave Mustaine with a distinctive aesthetic. It will be particularly suited to guitarists who wish to recapture the spirit of the ‘Rust In Peace’ sound and have a setup suited to thrash, heavy metal and styles where riff precision and definition under distortion are key.
