The history of Seymour Duncan is rooted in a close connection with vintage instruments and their components. Before founding the company, Seymour Duncan studied, repaired and rewound numerous vintage pickups, before going on to collaborate with leading figures in the industry such as Les Paul, Leo Fender and Seth Lover.
This experience subsequently informed his own creations. In particular, the brand developed models associated with famous guitarists, including the JB, which emerged from work carried out on Jeff Beck’s guitar.
The Custom Shop maintains this artisanal approach in Santa Barbara, with hand-built pickups and extensive research into historical materials.
