Supro - 64 Super

There are amps that answer just one question — and the Supro '64 Super is one of them. Its circuit consists of just two valves: a 12AX7 in the preamp to shape the attack, and a 6V6 in the power stage to transform it into 5 watts of compressed warmth in a Class A circuit. No reverb, no boost, no effects loop — this simplicity isn’t a design compromise, it’s a philosophy. The fewer stages between the guitar and the speaker, the more every nuance of touch reaches the cone intact.
That cone is the 8-inch Jensen C8R — an American transducer with an alnico magnet and paper cone, calibrated for low wattages. At 5 watts, the Jensen enters a state of natural compression before saturating, which gives sustained notes a roundness that high-power ceramic speakers are unable to produce. The poplar cabinet, finished in Blue Rhino Hide Tolex with white piping, houses this small speaker within a precisely calculated air volume — 10.5 kg in dimensions of 400 × 300 × 190 mm, a cabinet that sits effortlessly on a bar stool.
The Supro Silver/Blue grille and the Dog Bone vinyl handle place this amp squarely in the Keeley Custom lineage, leaving no room for visual ambiguity. The single volume control ensures that no other settings obscure the direct connection between your fingers and the sound. No line output, no footswitch, no external speaker output — the ’64 Super doesn’t plug into a system; you switch it on and it plays.
