Signal Processor Accessories
The Triton Audio AirHead reduces the level of a microphone signal between -6 dB and -18 dB to avoid saturation at the preamp input. It retains phantom power and integrates directly into the audio chain, offering a simple solution for managing very powerful sources.

Presentation
In certain recording situations, the problem is not a lack of gain, but rather a level that is too high. Close miking of drums, a loud guitar amp or some very dynamic vocals can quickly saturate the input of a preamp. In these cases, reducing the level upstream becomes essential to keep the signal clean.
The AirHead intervenes precisely at this point. It is a passive attenuator that is placed directly between the microphone and the preamp. Unlike software processing or downstream correction, it acts immediately on the signal, before any amplification. This avoids any saturation at the source, while maintaining the quality of the signal.
Attenuation is adjustable over a range from -6 dB to -18 dB. This flexibility means that the reduction can be precisely adapted to the source and the level picked up. The aim is to give the preamp a comfortable margin for manoeuvre, without crushing the signal or losing dynamic range.
Another advantage of the AirHead is its interaction with preamps. By reducing the level upstream, it becomes possible to push the gain of the preamp further without saturating it. This makes it possible to exploit the sonic character of certain preamps, particularly those that bring a particular coloration to higher levels.
The AirHead remains entirely passive, which means it requires no power supply to operate. It also passes phantom power, making it compatible with condenser microphones. Its compact size and balanced XLR connectors mean it can be integrated immediately into any configuration, whether in the studio or on stage.
