Presentation
The Revstar RS02CB Chris Buck Signature is the culmination of several years of collaboration between Yamaha and Chris Buck, a guitarist renowned for his fluid touch, expressiveness and ability to make every note speak for itself. Far from a standard signature model, this guitar is a direct transposition of Chris's personal Revstar custom, the one he's been using in the studio and on stage since 2020, and which has shaped his sonic identity around the world.
The instrument is based on a chambered mahogany body and maple top, optimised using Yamaha's exclusive Acoustic Design process. This work on the internal volumes results in a lighter, more resonant and better-balanced instrument, while retaining a solid, defined bass response. The guitar reacts immediately to playing, with a natural dynamic range that brings out the nuances of touch so dear to Chris Buck.
The three-piece mahogany neck, reinforced with carbon rods, provides remarkable stability, essential for an instrument destined to travel and endure a variety of playing conditions. The profile, combined with a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" radius, offers a fluid grip that's just as comfortable for expressive chords as it is for more stretched melodic phrases. Jumbo stainless steel frets ensure long life and a consistent feel over time.
At the heart of the RS02CB are two custom Yamaha YGD Alnico III P90 pickups, developed specifically to Chris Buck's preferences. Their deliberately moderate output level promotes great clarity at low volumes, while revealing a full, open and responsive sound when the instrument is pushed. These pickups provide a direct link between the acoustic resonance of the guitar and its electric expression, with a very faithful response to touch.
The TonePros AVT2 wraparound bridge, based on Chris's original custom design, connects the strings directly to the body. This design promotes natural sustain, a clean attack and a feeling of immediate connection between player and instrument. All this is complemented by a carefully designed aesthetic: Honey Gold finish, amber buttons, mother-of-pearl fingerboard markings and Chris Buck's signature on the back of the headstock, recalling the personal history of this guitar.
The Revstar RS02CB doesn't try to impose a style. It offers a responsive, balanced and deeply musical instrument, designed to accompany the guitarist in his own search for sound, just as the Revstar did for Chris Buck.

Chris Buck has established himself as Cardinal Black's guitarist, with his expressive, precise and always very sing-songy style. His melodic approach is direct, clear and deeply connected to emotion. This way of playing has long nurtured a natural bond with Yamaha, a manufacturer attentive to musicians who favour personality over the spectacular.
The Yamaha Revstar RS02CB Honey Gold guitar perfectly reflects Chris Buck's vision of sound. This signature model boasts a balanced, warm sound that's designed to support both fine nuances and clean attacks. The musician uses this instrument on stage as well as in the studio, because it supports expressive playing without ever taking over. The sober design reinforces the direct relationship between the hands and the sound.
The collaboration between Yamaha and Chris Buck is based on a constant dialogue about playing, touch and real musical expectations. The Japanese manufacturer has been working for decades with committed artists, capable of formulating precise and coherent needs. This relationship has made it possible to refine every detail of the Revstar RS02CB without trying to show off. Guitarists will find it a faithful extension of their musical language. Yamaha will continue this artist- and music-centred approach.
