D'Angelico - Premier Brandon Niederauer Signature

A crisp attack and a dry warmth immediately characterise the sound of the D’Angelico Premier Brandon Niederauer Atlantic, the signature model of the young guitarist nicknamed ‘Taz’. The solid basswood body — with top, sides and back carved from the same wood — weighs 3.69 kg and features a single-cutaway design in glossy Sonic Blue. The short scale length of 628.65 mm (24.75") reduces string tension and paves the way for sweeping bends.

The Maple Scarf neck, with a C-shaped profile and set-through construction, extends into the body to transmit vibrations seamlessly. Its Ovangkol fingerboard, with a radius of 355.60 mm, features twenty-two Medium Vintage nickel-silver frets beneath pearlescent white block inlays, complemented by side inlays. A 42.86 mm wide PPS nut marks the start of the fingerboard, whilst a double-action truss rod, concealed beneath an Aluminium Skyscraper plate engraved with Taz’s signature, adjusts the neck’s curvature — the neck’s thickness tapering from 21 mm at the first fret to 23 mm at the twelfth, finished in a natural satin finish. Three-ply binding frames the headstock, fingerboard and body, whilst a standard-profile headstock with a gloss finish features the mother-of-pearl D’Angelico New York and Premier Shield logos, as well as an engraved serial number on the back. The body measures 336.55 mm in width and 41.28 mm in depth.

The Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, both in satin chrome like the Rotomatic Stairstep tuning machines, keep the guitar in tune. The two Seymour Duncan Designed humbuckers — an HB-102 at the neck, HB-101 at the bridge, with satin chrome covers — are controlled by two volume controls, two tone controls and a three-position toggle switch, connected to 500k potentiometers and a standard mono jack. A five-ply tortoiseshell F-hole-style pickguard and a black backplate adorn the body, complemented by four Black Speed Knobs and chrome strap buttons. The D’Angelico Electrozinc 10-46 strings fitted as standard are perfect for the rock and blues repertoire dear to Taz. Listed as DAPATLTAZCS, the guitar comes with a gig bag.
