AKG - C480B avec capsule CK61ULS
The AKG C480 B with CK61 ULS capsule combines an extremely quiet microphone preamp with a reference cardioid capsule designed for recording applications requiring precision, coherence and neutrality. This configuration is particularly popular in studio, broadcast and high-end live recording applications.
Presentation
The C480 B preamp is based on particularly careful electronics designed to achieve extremely low noise levels, close to the theoretical limits of electrostatic technology. Its transformerless output stage guarantees totally linear transmission across the entire bandwidth, with very low distortion and excellent signal stability, even with long cable runs. This design ensures accurate reproduction of transients and excellent definition of sound details.
The C480 B also features a pad switchable between +6 dB and -10 dB, enabling it to work on sources with high acoustic pressure up to 144 dB SPL. Its switchable low-cut filter at 100 Hz effectively reduces mechanical vibrations, structure-borne noise and parasitic resonances that can occur in live or broadcast environments.
The CK61 ULS capsule completes the package with a particularly linear frequency response and a cardioid polar pattern that is remarkably constant off-axis. This stability maintains a homogenous tonal balance while effectively limiting sound coming from the sides and rear. This makes it particularly suitable for classical recording, drum overheads, acoustic instruments, vocal ensembles or broadcast applications requiring a clean, natural sound image.
The self-cleaning gold-plated contacts ensure excellent long-term reliability, while the build quality of the Ultra Linear series remains a benchmark for many sound engineers and specialist technicians.

Founded in 1947 in Vienna, AKG is today one of the major players in the world of audio, with references for microphones and headphones used in the world's largest recording studios. These include the C414 condenser microphone, the small C451 diaphragm and the K series of monitoring headsets.
Since its acquisition by Harman International in 1994, AKG has continued to innovate with new stage microphones, analog and digital wireless systems, the Perception Series, and collaborations with artists such as Tiësto on DJ headphones.
