Presentation
D'Angelico has finished the Atlantic Deluxe in a matt black that absorbs light before reflecting it in subtle flashes, on a Single Cutaway silhouette inherited from the New York workshops. The satin finish of the solid alder body and neck creates a matt feel under the fingers, a far cry from the classic high-gloss varnish, whilst the headstock retains its glossy sheen as a visual signature.
Beneath this understated finish, the instrument’s construction centres on a three-piece neck glued to the body, finished with an ebony fingerboard with a scale length of 355.6 mm, guiding the player’s hands across the 22 Jescar nickel-silver frets. The C-shape profile widens from 20 mm at the first fret to 22 mm at the twelfth, providing a gradual grip. A Tusq nut, double-action truss rod, and multiple inlays on the fingerboard, body and headstock: every aspect of the construction is designed with mechanical stability as much as aesthetics in mind, right down to the mother-of-pearl and abalone block inlays that are the hallmark of the Deluxe range.
The electronics feature two Seymour Duncan Seth Lover A4 humbuckers, with Alnico IV magnets and four-conductor wiring, capable of switching from full humbucker mode to coil-split mode via the push/pull tone controls. The gold-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece transmit vibrations without interference, whilst the Grover 509 locking tuners minimise micro-movements of the strings whilst tuning. Whether it’s blues, vintage rock or light jazz, there’s a sound for every style. The included Deluxe hard case protects the instrument both on the road and at home.

Spotlight on
D'Angelico is a New York brand of electric guitars that has existed since 1938. First went unnoticed because the guitars were manufactured only by hand in a very small workshop by two luthiers; it is in 2011, at a show at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, that D'Angelico is noticed. Since then, D'Angelico guitars have been a real success thanks to their quality of manufacture and their price.
