Presentation
Some guitars are meant for the living room, and others for the stage. The D’Angelico Excel Gramercy Mahogany Burst belongs to both worlds. Its solid mahogany top, finished in Mahogany Burst, produces a warm, woody tone, supported by carved X-bracing that allows the body to breathe without ever running out of steam.
The cutaway Grand Auditorium body strikes just the right balance: neither too bulky for seated playing, nor too understated to carry an accompaniment. The mahogany back and sides extend this signature sound, whilst the rosewood Stairstep bridge anchors each string with a crisp sustain. The set-neck, C-shaped profile glides smoothly under the fingers thanks to its satin finish and progressive thickness ranging from 20 to 22 mm.
The rosewood fingerboard, radiused to 355.6 mm and inlaid with small mother-of-pearl diamonds, guides the player’s touch right up to the twentieth Medium Jumbo fret. The bone nut, cut to 42.86 mm, and the antique bronze Stairstep Wave tuners maintain tuning with the same elegance as the Throwback Scroll-Style headstock that crowns them.
On stage, the Fishman Presys VT preamp takes over: volume and tone controls at your fingertips, allowing you to switch from an acoustic jam to an amplified gig without losing the soul of the wood. The D’Addario EXP-16 strings complete this package, designed to be lived with, from the studio to the road.

Spotlight on
D'Angelico is a New York brand of electric guitars that has existed since 1938. First went unnoticed because the guitars were manufactured only by hand in a very small workshop by two luthiers; it is in 2011, at a show at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, that D'Angelico is noticed. Since then, D'Angelico guitars have been a real success thanks to their quality of manufacture and their price.
