D'Angelico - Excel Mini DC Solid Black

The D'Angelico Excel Mini DC, finished in Solid Black with a gloss finish, owes its presence to a semi-hollow body with double cut-aways and a centre block, where laminated maple on the top, sides and back channels vibrations without suffering from the feedback associated with large hollow-body guitars. Five-ply binding highlights the contours, whilst a five-ply Scalini tortoise-shell pickguard and a stopbar tailpiece define the Excel silhouette.

The three-piece C-shaped neck is joined to the body via a glued joint, ensuring long-term stability at the neck joint. Twenty-two Jescar 47/104 nickel-silver frets run along an ebony fingerboard marked with mother-of-pearl Split Block inlays and side markers, beneath three-ply binding. The Tusq nut frames the tuning, which is adjusted by a double-action truss rod and secured by Grover 509 Super Rotomatic locking tuners, finished in gold like the rest of the hardware. The gold-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge allows for string-by-string intonation adjustment, beneath a standard headstock where D’Angelico New York and Excel Shield mother-of-pearl logos sit alongside a Skyscraper aluminium truss rod cover and a Cupola headpin.

The Seymour Duncan DA-59 neck pickup and SH-4 bridge pickup, controlled by two volume controls, two push/pull tone controls and a three-position selector switch, open up a repertoire ranging from mellow blues to distorted rock. D’Angelico Electrozinc strings, gold-plated locking strap buttons and a standard mono jack output complete the package, which comes with a gig bag. Assembled in Korea.
