D'Angelico - Excel DC Amber
D'Angelico Excel DC Amber With the Excel DC Amber, D'Angelico presents a semi-hollow guitar in which the laminated spruce resonates beneath a curved top. A 3-piece C-shaped neck, an ebony fingerboard with a 406.4 mm radius, and a pair of gold-plated Seymour Duncan DA-59/SH-4 pickups combine to create an electric guitar with real character, equally at home playing jazz or mellow rock.
Presentation
The ebony fingerboard, edged with three-ply binding and adorned with mother-of-pearl Split Block inlays, glides smoothly over the twenty-two Jescar Nickel Silver frets (47/104), spaced at a radius of 406.4 mm and a 42.86 mm Tusq nut. The lockable Grover 509 tuners, gold-plated like the rest of the hardware, ensure stable tuning. The standard headstock, topped with a Cupola headpin, features the D’Angelico New York logo and the Excel mother-of-pearl shield, with an Aluminium Skyscraper truss rod cover.
Two Seymour Duncan USA humbuckers – a DA-59 at the neck and an SH-4 at the bridge, both with gold covers – are controlled via two volume controls, two push/pull tone controls and a three-position selector switch, all fitted with 500k potentiometers. A gold-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece anchor the vibration, beneath a five-ply Scalini tortoiseshell pickguard and four ebony buttons. Fitted with original Electrozinc 10-46 strings, gold-plated lockable strap buttons, a standard mono jack output, and a gig bag included. Made in Korea, with the serial number engraved on the back.

Spotlight on
D'Angelico is a New York brand of electric guitars that has existed since 1938. First went unnoticed because the guitars were manufactured only by hand in a very small workshop by two luthiers; it is in 2011, at a show at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, that D'Angelico is noticed. Since then, D'Angelico guitars have been a real success thanks to their quality of manufacture and their price.
