D'Angelico - Excel Mini DC Viola

There are some guitars you admire before you even play them. The D’Angelico Excel Mini DC Viola is one of them. Its semi-hollow double-cutaway body with a central block, finished in a glossy deep Viola colour, reveals the grain of the laminated flamed maple used for the sides and back when held up to the light. The laminated spruce top adds that woody resonance which gives the sound its natural character.
The three-piece, C-shaped neck, glued to the body, guides the hand effortlessly up to the higher positions. The ebony fingerboard, with a radius of 406.4 mm, adapts to the contours of both fast playing and sustained chords. Its 22 Jescar 47/104 silver-plated nickel frets cover a wide range, from muted riffs to solos that soar up the neck. The double-action truss rod keeps the neck stable, season after season.
The pair of Seymour Duncan 59 pickups, with gold-coloured covers, offer a wealth of nuance thanks to the push/pull split-coil function: a full-bodied humbucker for rock, and a clear single-coil sound for funk or mellow pop. The two volume and two tone controls, operated by a three-position toggle switch, offer a wide range of sounds at your fingertips.
The technical details bring it all together elegantly: a 42.86 mm Tusq nut, Grover 109 Super Rotomatic tuners, a gold-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. The 5-ply tortoiseshell Scalini pickguard and the 5-ply body binding add a touch of visual refinement. Made in Korea and supplied in its Deluxe DEMDCCASE hard case, this guitar delivers on its promises both on stage and in the studio.
