Presentation
With the Excel Style B Amber, D’Angelico unveils a guitar that pays homage to the great archtop guitars of yesteryear, featuring an amber finish under a gloss varnish reminiscent of whisky aged in oak barrels. With no cutaway, the Non-Cutaway silhouette boasts a bold, clean-lined design, far removed from modern compromises.
The hollow-body body, measuring 431.80 mm wide by 76.20 mm deep, is constructed with a laminated spruce top paired with laminated flamed maple sides and back: the wood breathes, and the body responds with a rich, full resonance. The floating ebony bridge transmits every vibration with character, a raw and vibrant quality.
The three-piece neck, with a C-profile, widens from 21 mm at the first fret to 23 mm at the twelfth, beneath an ebony fingerboard with a scale length of 304.80 mm. Its 20 Jescar 47/104 frets, Graph Tech NuBone XL nut and gold-plated Grover 150 Imperial tuners keep the tuning stable, night after night.
The DeArmond Rhythm Chief 1000 pickup, featuring an Alnico V magnet and mounted on the neck, captures the mellow nuances of traditional jazz with a simple volume/tone control. Stairstep tailpiece, 5-ply Scalini tortoise-shell pickguard, gold-plated locking strap pins: every detail bears witness to its heritage. Made in Korea, it comes in a Deluxe Hardshell case.

Spotlight on
D'Angelico is a New York brand of electric guitars that has existed since 1938. First went unnoticed because the guitars were manufactured only by hand in a very small workshop by two luthiers; it is in 2011, at a show at the New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, that D'Angelico is noticed. Since then, D'Angelico guitars have been a real success thanks to their quality of manufacture and their price.
