D'Angelico - Premier Bedford Oxblood

D'Angelico breaks away from the traditional mould with the Premier Bedford Oxblood, an offset solid-body guitar in which the basswood top, the sides and back, offers a light, responsive grain under the fingers, enhanced by a high-gloss finish and a scale length of 628.65 mm. The two Duncan Designed P90-1 pickups, with cream-coloured covers at both the neck and bridge, shift from a snappy sound to a crisp attack depending on the position of the three-way selector switch; a single volume control, a single tone control and 500k potentiometers are all that’s needed to tame this biting character. The six-point vibrato tailpiece allows for subtle pitch adjustments, which the chrome-plated Tune-O-Matic bridge accommodates without any loss of tuning stability, aided by a dual-action truss rod that stabilises the neck’s curvature over time.
The maple neck, joined by a scarf joint, with a C-profile and a satin finish, is set into the body via a set-through joint; it is slim under the palm, measuring 20 mm at the first fret and 22 mm at the twelfth. The ovangkol fingerboard features 22 Medium Vintage nickel-silver frets on a 355.6 mm radius, with pearlescent white block inlays guided by a 42.86 mm PPS nut. Grover 109 tuners lock in the tuning, whilst the three-ply headstock and fingerboard binding frames the headstock, which houses the Cupola headpin beneath its Skyscraper truss rod cover.
The body, 41.28 mm deep and 336.55 mm wide, has no binding but features a pearlescent cream F-hole pickguard, a black backplate and two black Speed knobs. Chrome strap buttons and a standard mono jack output complete the specification, and the guitar comes fitted with D’Angelico Electrozinc 10-46 strings. Manufactured in Indonesia, the Bedford Oxblood comes with a gig bag.
