The GA ELA M 251E follows in the tradition of the most sought-after tube microphones, with the clearly stated ambition of recapturing the spirit and sonic behaviour of the original Telefunken ELA M 251E. For more than three years, Golden Age Audio carried out extensive analysis, comparative listening and successive adjustments in order to achieve a faithful reproduction of the sonic character of the original model.

This large-diaphragm microphone is based on a K251D capsule designed on the basis of data obtained by reverse engineering a CEK12 capsule from an ELA M in its first year of production. The tolerance between capsules is controlled with rare precision, guaranteeing near-perfect sonic coherence between units.

The engineers have also reconstituted certain emblematic mechanical elements, such as the directivity change mechanism and the internal insulating support, to ensure the amplifier's optimum electrical stability.

The construction uses careful point-to-point assembly, PTFE-coated silver wiring and an EH6072A tube, contributing to the smooth transients, natural musicality and depth characteristic of this type of microphone.
