In 2019, Joey Landreth of Bros. Landreth approached Jackson Audio about a signature pedal. Joey was already playing on a Broken Arrow but wasn't really a Tube Screamer user so he wondered if Jackson Audio could make him a pedal that had the same architecture as the Broken Arrow but instead was designed after a Bluesbreaker or King of Tone type circuit. The Golden Boy is the result of that conversation.

Because the Golden Boy is based on the Bluesbreaker/King of Tone circuit, its grain is very open, uncompressed and transparent.
Strange as it may seem, Brad Jackson had never played a Bluesbreaker circuit before playing the Golden Boy prototype, and he was won over!
The Golden Boy with a Strat and a Fender amp is pure John Mayer!
And Brad now understands why so many musicians love this circuit. It fits perfectly into the mix and although it adds saturation and bite, your guitar still sounds great!
