Lindell Audio - 6X-500 Vintage Edition

The Lindell Audio 6X-500VIN is the Vintage Edition of the famous 6X-500. It is aimed at sound engineers who are looking for a more assertive character, a more organic response and a more assertive coloration, while retaining the versatility of the 500 series format. This module combines a transformer-based mono mic preamplifier and a Pultec-type passive two-band equalizer, all in a completely discrete architecture.

At the heart of the 6X-500VIN is the OPA1731 operational amplifier, renowned for its vintage grain, harmonic density and rounder response than modern designs. This topology provides a sense of depth and substance that is particularly appreciated on vocals, drums, electric guitars and bass. The preamplifier offers up to 65dB of gain, making it easy to feed dynamic or ribbon microphones, while retaining excellent noise control.

The equalisation section faithfully reflects the Pultec spirit, with passive inductor equalisation followed by a gain compensation stage. Low frequencies can be boosted in three fixed positions, while high frequencies benefit from a progressive and musical boost, ideal for adding air, presence or relief without aggression. An internal selection can be used to adjust the bandwidth of the treble boost, offering additional scope for customisation to suit different sources.

Designed for professional integration, the Lindell Audio 6X-500VIN features transformer-coupled balanced inputs and outputs, polarity reversal, 48 V phantom power and a five-segment LED meter for precise visual control.
