Synthesizer

The First Love White, designed by Love Synthesizers, brings together several approaches to music-making in an instrument designed to encourage sonic exploration, with a personality that certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. Its touchscreen interface, complemented by pressure-sensitive pads, facilitates spontaneous interactions where every touch instantly alters the character of the sounds. Its portable design also makes it easy to take this musical world with you to a studio, a rehearsal or a gig. It always has a few surprises up its sleeve, a bit like a cat that’s learnt FM synthesis between naps.

ARTICLE N° 125752
The First Love White combines several creative functions into a single unit capable of producing, organising and developing musical ideas with great fluidity.

Its FM synthesis engine operates in polyphonic and 4-voice multitimbral modes, allowing you to play up to four independent sounds simultaneously, layer them or assign them to different MIDI channels to build rich textures, complex pads, punchy basslines or complementary melodies without interrupting the flow of inspiration.

The interface is designed to provide direct access to essential parameters via a touchscreen, pressure-sensitive pads and dedicated physical controllers. Customisable FM connections, waveshaping, morphing envelopes, modulations and effects allow you to profoundly alter the behaviour of sounds without having to navigate through a series of complex menus. Every sonic variation is immediately perceptible, which encourages continuous creative exploration and easily expands the range of available musical colours.

The sequencer functions provide a particularly comprehensive environment thanks to the Riff Sequencer, the advanced arpeggiator and the Looper. Loops can be recorded, duplicated, merged, rearranged or enhanced with additional takes using the overdub functions.

Quantisation also facilitates rhythmic alignment when required, whilst arranging the various sequences allows you to gradually build a coherent composition directly from the instrument, without interrupting the creative process by switching to a different working environment.

Scale management offers considerable freedom with fully customisable tempered, quantised or microtonal scales. This flexibility makes it easier to explore a wide range of musical styles and allows for a natural dialogue with instruments using other tuning systems, without limiting the possibilities for composition or experimentation.

The built-in speakers, the wide range of connection options and the option to run on battery power further enhance the instrument’s portability. An idea can thus be conceived in a living room, developed during a rehearsal and then refined on stage without altering one’s usual working habits. This freedom of movement sometimes gives the impression that inspiration now has its own means of transport, one that would consume less fuel than an old tour van.

The FIRST LOVE’s multitimbral engine and microtonal scales will fit seamlessly into compositions that blend acoustic instruments from different musical traditions.
This configuration makes it easy to develop complementary textures and specific tunings, whilst maintaining musical coherence throughout the development of a composition.

The 4 × 4 looper allows you to gradually build a complete arrangement by recording several independent layers, then merging or rearranging them as required by the piece.
This approach is also well-suited to creating soundscapes for an art installation, a soundtrack or an audiovisual performance where sequences are constantly evolving.

About Love Synthesizers:
Founded in 2023 in Reykjavik by Kári Halldórsson, Love Synthesizers develops electronic instruments designed to facilitate rapid interaction between the musician and sound synthesis. Its team brings together developers, designers and artists around an approach centred on expressiveness and musical creation.

The brand focuses its development on standalone synthesisers combining touchscreens, physical controls and an advanced sound engine to make FM synthesis more accessible without limiting creative possibilities. This approach won the Sonicstate Award for Best Innovation at Superbooth 2024, a highly regarded accolade in the world of electronic instruments.
