Marcus Miller is one of the most influential bassists in modern jazz. Born in Brooklyn in 1959, he also plays bass clarinet, saxophone and keyboards. He made his name worldwide through his collaboration with Miles Davis, notably on the album Tutu, which he composed and produced almost entirely. His style blends jazz, funk, soul and fusion with a highly acclaimed slap technique. Marcus Miller has won several Grammy Awards and worked with artists such as Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin and Herbie Hancock.
