Beyond the bass, Marcus Miller is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. In particular, he plays the bass clarinet, a relatively rare instrument in modern jazz. This instrument appears in several of his compositions, adding a deep, woody sound. This mastery of different timbres enables him to orchestrate his albums with great richness.
