Electric Bass

Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Swamp Ash 5 Strings FL Natural The Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage 2nd Generation Ash 4-String is a fretless bass with a swamp ash body that goes straight back to the sound of the 70s: warm, round, with that organic grain that no fret interrupts. The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution Formvar pickups, repositioned closer to the bridge, deliver a hard attack, while the Marcus Heritage-3 preamp with midrange frequency control sculpts the spectrum in both active and passive modes.

ARTICLE N° 123219
The Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage 2nd Generation Ash 4-String plays in a class of its own: fretless basses that don't require compromising on electronics to get to the bare neck. The full bog ash body lays the foundations - a warm character, a measured attack, a sound texture that breathes - and the Edgeless™ hard maple fingerboard with rolled edges turns position sliding into something almost instinctive. Here we're in the vein of the great studio fretless basses, the ones that built the soul and jazz-funk bass lines of the 70s.
The Marcus Vintage-J Revolution Formvar pickups are deliberately positioned closer to the bridge, in the tradition of 70s-style jazz basses: the sound gains in bite, the definition of transients is accentuated, and the low-midrange retains its full body without spilling over. The Formvar winding is not a marketing gimmick - it's the material of the period, the one that gives the signal that characteristic velvety quality we associate with the Marcus Miller sound.
The Marcus Heritage-3 preamp features dual potentiometers for midrange frequency control, not found on the New Gen versions - a difference that makes all the difference in the studio or on stage when you want to target a particular spectral range without touching the rest. The mini active/passive switch replaces the push/pull of the other models for straightforward switching. The original DR Dragon Skin+DBQ-45 strings come mounted on the Marcus Miller Vintage-S bridge, and the 38mm natural bone saddle handles intonation across the 20 frets - or rather, 20 position markers - of an 863.6mm scale. The 1-ply black block & binding, the 3-ply black/white/black pickguard and the high-gloss varnished neck complete the package: the vintage DNA is consistent down to the last detail.
