To find out more...
Marcus Miller grew up in a family where music was part of everyday life. His father, William Miller, was a pianist and choirmaster in a Brooklyn church. This musical atmosphere had a profound influence on Marcus from an early age. Even before thinking about a professional career, he developed a very sensitive ear for gospel harmonies and vocal arrangements. This spiritual and musical foundation will remain perceptible in many of his compositions, particularly in his use of choirs, warm harmonic progressions and certain emotional dynamics inherited from Afro-American religious music.
