Motu - 828 (2024)
Motu 828, 2024 edition. USB3 digital audio interface with 28 inputs and 32 outputs, Mac, Windows iOS compatible.
Presentation
The 828 connects to a Mac or PC via USB 3 at 5 Gbps (compatible with USB 2), offering up to 60 channels of audio (28 inputs and 32 outputs). Proven and trusted MOTU drivers work with all your favourite audio applications, guaranteeing industry-leading RTL (Round Trip Latency) performance, down to 2ms at 96kHz with high-performance DAW hosts that can handle a buffer size of 32 samples). USB class compliant audio firmware allows connection to your iPad™ or any iOS™ device via USB-C or a standard camera connection kit (Lightning adapter sold separately).
Motu 828 is ideal in the studio as well as on stage. As a standalone interface or mixer, the 828 offers 28 separate inputs and 32 separate outputs, including two XLR/TRS 'combo' mic/line/guitar inputs, dedicated XLR main outputs, and two independent front-panel headphone outputs. Renowned ESS Sabre32™ DAC technology delivers outstanding analogue performance.
Connect all your studio equipment, including microphones, guitars, synthesizers, keyboards, drum machines and effects processors. Record, monitor and process all these signals live without latency and without overloading your computer's processor. The powerful DSP provides separate monitor mixes for all analogue output pairs, including the two headphone outputs, with on-board effects processing including reverb, 4-band EQ and compression.
Take control of your recording sessions with the front-panel talk button. Connect two sets of speakers and instantly check your mixes with the front-panel speaker A/B select buttons. Webcast your sessions with loopback channels and your own custom mix of all 828 inputs.
After recording and mixing in the studio, disconnect the 828 from the computer and take it on stage to use it as a stand-alone mixer with effects. Control everything via Wi-Fi from the CueMix 5 app on your laptop, tablet and smartphone.
From studio to stage, the 828 delivers exceptional sound quality, state-of-the-art operation and reliable performance.

Plug your guitar into the front panel input, use CueMix's near-zero latency to loop through to any output (possibly with a reamp adapter) and simultaneously record the dry signal and your mic amp.
Then re-amp the raw signal later with different amps and cabinets (or amp modelling plug-ins) to
experiment with different tones. There's no need to reconnect cables between recording and re-amping.
Each headphone output can be programmed with the same or different mixes, with independent volume control from the front panel or CueMix 5.
