With the M6 interface, the renowned North American manufacturer Motu is adding a new interface to its range, to complement the M series (M2, M4).

The Motu M6 features the same technical specifications, whilst adding some very useful features such as the A/B switch for comparing a mix on two different pairs of monitors, two headphone outputs with independent volume control, and the 3-4 switch for independent headphone monitoring of outputs 3-4 (instead of 1-2).

The Motu M series share the following features:
- a clear and detailed 160 x 120-pixel colour LCD screen for total and precise control of the interface
- ultra-low round-trip (RTL) latency of 2.5 ms (with a buffer size of 32 samples and a sampling rate of 96 kHz)
- ESS Sabre32 Ultra™ digital-to-analogue converter technology, offering a dynamic range of 120 dB on its line outputs
- ESS converters are also used for the headphone outputs
- ultra-clean pre-amplifier circuitry (with a measured EIN of -129 dBu on the microphone inputs)

For use with an iOS device, an adapter kit and a powered USB hub are required.
The Motu M6 can be used as a stand-alone preamp and basic mixing desk, without the need for a host computer. Simply press the monitoring button for the six inputs (and 48V phantom power, if required) and adjust the preamp gain as needed. Connect the main outputs to any line-level destination, such as a PA system or patch bay.
