Presentation
By combining the Volt 2 Gen 2 interface with a comprehensive software suite, Universal Audio delivers a cohesive solution for recording, monitoring and producing audio in a compact setup, suitable for both music creation and mobile production set-ups.
The two Tone Shaping preamps offer 60 dB of gain and three character modes – Warmth, Focus and Shine – inspired by different analogue signatures. This range allows you to tailor the tone of a vocal, a guitar or any other source, with direct control that lets the knobs do their thing.
In terms of specifications, the 32-bit/192 kHz conversion and a dynamic range of up to 127 dB ensure a faithful reproduction of recorded nuances, providing a solid foundation for detailed music production. The headphone and speaker outputs also feature separate monitoring levels, making it easier to monitor takes and carry out mixing work within the same audio environment.
The colour Smart Display provides an instant readout of inputs, levels and settings from the front panel, offering clear visibility during recording. Auto-Gain calibrates take levels in a matter of seconds, whilst clipping protection kicks in to handle unexpected peaks. This reduces repetitive adjustments and leaves more time to focus on the performance.
Powered via USB, the interface integrates easily into a setup without the need for a dedicated mains power supply, with compatibility confirmed for Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone. Its class-compliant operation on supported platforms also makes it easy to use with various audio software programmes. Universal Audio thus combines portability with familiar connectivity, offering a solution that transitions seamlessly from a computer to a compatible mobile setup, without turning your desk into a power station.
The built-in loopback expands its range of applications to include podcasting, streaming and content creation, with routing that allows you to mix audio from the computer with connected sources. Integration with UAD Console and LUNA rounds off this setup, offering the ability to recall settings and low-latency monitor mixes. The Volt 2 Gen 2 thus covers a range of creative applications beyond traditional music recording.
