MXR - M226R Flanger Doubler

This MXR effects pedal combines two distinct channels: a flanger capable of producing metallic sweeps and a doubler that thickens the signal through time-delay, allowing you to switch between chorus, vibrato, short slapback and more pronounced modulation effects, with Manual, Width, Speed, Regen and Mix to precisely shape the depth, speed, return level and the ratio between the processed signal and the dry signal, depending on the desired tone.

The analogue operation is based on bucket-brigade circuits and covers delay times suited to both flanger effects and more spaced-out doubling, with a range of 0.33 to 5.5 ms in flanger mode and 14 to 66 ms in doubler mode, and the Invert switch reverses the polarity of the processed signal to create hollow textures, a more airy feel or a boost to the lower mid-range, depending on the combination of the selected mode and the various available settings.

The two Sweep LEDs provide a visual readout of the instantaneous delay time and track the combined action of the Manual, Width and Speed parameters, making modulation movements immediately apparent in a live or studio setting, whilst True Bypass preserves the signal path when the effect is disengaged.

The CV In and CV Out connections extend functionality beyond a conventional pedalboard, with a 0–5 V range suitable for synthesisers, sequencers, compatible expression pedals and other equipment capable of controlling external modulation; the CV signal from the internal LFO can then transmit the movements defined by Manual, Width and Speed to other compatible effects or instruments, to coordinate depth and sweep speed within a chain combining multiple modulation sources and give the processing a truly experimental dimension.
