Presentation
The Neumann U47 FET is a large-diaphragm studio microphone that continues the tradition of professional recording. A faithful reinterpretation of the legendary U47 transistor microphone of the 1970s, it retains the acoustic characteristics that have forged its reputation in the world's greatest studios.
Its tight cardioid pick-up pattern, combined with a linear frequency response enhanced by a slight presence hump between 2 and 5 kHz, ensures exceptional clarity, particularly on vocals, brass, guitar amps or bass drums.
This pressure gradient transducer mic is particularly sought after for its pronounced proximity effect, which accentuates the bass when used at close range, bringing warmth and presence to the softest vocals.
For precise adaptation to the environment or source, the Neumann U47 FET features a switchable high-pass filter at 140 Hz, limiting unwanted low-end vibrations, and can handle sound pressure levels of up to 147 dB thanks to its built-in attenuator, making it ideal for picking up powerful percussion or high-volume guitar cabinets.
The finesse of its large-diaphragm capsule is combined with extremely quiet electronics: with a signal-to-noise ratio of 76 dB (A-weighted), it captures the subtlest details without adding any hiss.
The 150 ohm output impedance means it can be integrated seamlessly into most professional recording systems. It is powered by a simple 48V phantom power supply, and its robust format (Ø 63 mm, length 160 mm, weight 710 g) fits easily onto standard microphone stands.
The Neumann U47 FET is the tool of choice for producers, engineers and artists looking for a microphone with a distinctive character that is smooth, accurate and powerful.
Whether it's for vocals in the studio, bass drums in a rock mix or brass ensembles in an orchestral setting, it offers a timeless richness of sound that spans the decades without losing its relevance.
