An LED screen installed in an environment subject to fluctuations in natural light must be able to adjust its brightness level to suit the ambient conditions. The NovaStar NS60 30 m is a light sensor that continuously measures the illuminance around the screen over a range of 0 to 65,535 lux and transmits this information to the NovaStar control system to automate brightness adjustment. Its 30-metre cable allows the sensor to be positioned at a distance from the processing equipment, whilst its IP65 rating enables it to be used both indoors and outdoors.

Presentation
The NovaStar NS60 30 m light sensor plays a specific role in the management of LED screens: it measures the actual light levels around the installation to enable the control system to automatically adjust the display’s brightness. This adaptive control function prevents the display from maintaining a fixed brightness level, as lighting conditions can vary significantly between day and night or across different indoor environments.
Its sensor covers an illuminance range from 0 to 65,535 lux. The measurements can therefore be used to adjust the brightness of an LED screen according to the ambient light detected. The sensor can be connected directly to several NovaStar devices, including the MSD300, MCTRL300 and MCTRL600 senders, the MFN300 multifunction card, the MFN300 multifunction box and products from the Taurus range.
The NS60 30 m version is distinguished by its 30-metre cable. This length allows the measurement point to be positioned away from the processor or control unit, placing the sensor in an area representative of the actual lighting received by the screen. The cable can be up to 100 metres long, depending on the configuration used.
The device does not require an external power supply: its 5 V DC power is supplied by the NovaStar equipment to which it is connected. This design simplifies installation and reduces the number of connections required around the screen.
