The NovaStar LORA module from the Taurus series enables several Taurus media players to be synchronised via a radio link, so that content displayed on multiple screens can update simultaneously. Unlike NTP-based synchronisation, this RF architecture does not require an additional network connection between the different players. Operating at a frequency of 433 MHz, with a supplied external antenna and a range of up to 4 km in open space depending on the environment, the module is suitable for LED installations spread across a single site.

When an LED display comprises several screens, each equipped with its own media player, synchronising the content is essential to ensure perfectly coordinated playback. The LORANovaStar module addresses this issue by using a dedicated RF link to synchronise several Taurus units with one another.

Each player fitted with the module receives synchronisation information via a radio signal. Content updates can therefore take place simultaneously across the various screens, without the need to transmit synchronisation information over a shared network infrastructure. This approach distinguishes the LORANovaStar module from conventional NTP synchronisation, which requires a network connection to provide the various media players with a common time reference.

Communication operates at a frequency of 0.433 GHz. The range can reach up to 4 kilometres in open space when propagation conditions are favourable. However, the actual range depends on the environment, the presence of obstacles and any radio interference. The module can therefore be used to coordinate screens installed at different locations within the same site, where their positioning makes a network connection less practical.

The Taurus LORA Module is compatible with the media players in the NovaStar Taurus range. The required RF antenna is supplied with the module and its installation is plug-and-play. No additional drivers are required to use this synchronisation function.
