Novastar - SFP 40G Monomode 1310 nm

The increase in the number of pixels to be controlled quickly leads to greater bandwidth requirements between the various components of an LED installation. The NovaStar 40G Single-Mode SFP addresses this challenge by providing a 40G optical interface for equipment compatible with NovaStar’s 5GB platform. This is a module designed for data transmission rather than a standalone converter: its function therefore depends directly on the equipment in which it is installed.

This SFP is specifically designed for NovaStar’s CX series processors, including the CX40 and CX80. By increasing the transmission capacity available on the optical link, it supports architectures capable of handling larger volumes of data and, consequently, LED configurations with a higher pixel count.

The version presented here operates over single-mode fibre and uses a wavelength of 1310 nm. With a compatible fibre and suitable infrastructure, the maximum advertised range is 10 km. This distance allows the processing equipment to be located considerably further away from the display areas, which can be particularly advantageous when the control room, the technical rack and the screens are not in the same space.

The connection is made via an LC connector, allowing the use of standard LC fibre-optic cables that meet the link’s specifications. The module is also hot-swappable: this design simplifies maintenance operations and allows the SFP to be replaced without having to dismantle the entire unit.

The NovaStar 40G Single-mode SFP is therefore a discreet yet essential component in a high-speed LED transmission architecture. When used in conjunction with a compatible NovaStar processor, it helps to create a 40G fibre link suitable for installations requiring high transmission capacity over long distances.
