The RME AES25 4F4M PRO 1m multi-pair cable combines eight AES/EBU digital links into a single cable, featuring a male D-Sub 25 connector on the equipment side and a fan-out comprising four male XLR connectors and four female XLR connectors. This mixed configuration allows the digital input and output connections of a multi-channel interface to be combined on a single multi-pair cable, with an impedance of 110 ohms suitable for AES3 transmission.
Presentation
At the other end, four male XLR connectors and four female XLR connectors form a mixed array. This configuration allows the digital connections required for multi-channel AES/EBU equipment to be consolidated without the need for multiple separate cables. It is particularly well-suited to professional interfaces and converters that utilise TASCAM-format D-Sub 25 connectors for their AES/EBU inputs and outputs.
AES3, also known as AES/EBU, is a digital audio transmission standard used between professional equipment. The RME AES25 4F4M PRO has a characteristic impedance of 110 ohms and supports configurations up to 192 kHz. Adherence to this impedance is particularly important for maintaining the transmission conditions of an AES/EBU signal over a digital link.
The 1-metre length is suitable for connections made directly within a rack or between nearby devices. It allows for short, tidy cabling between an interface, a converter or another digital unit and its connection environment.
The eight XLR connectors are numbered to facilitate the identification of the various connections. The black cable has a 14 mm diameter sheath and the male D-Sub 25 connector features a 4/40 UNC threaded connection.
