Presentation
The SE Electronics DM2 TNT is an in-line microphone preamp designed to increase the output level of dynamic and passive ribbon microphones. It is inserted directly between the microphone and the input of the preamp or audio interface, without the need for an external power supply other than +48V phantom.
One of its special features is the ability to choose between two gain levels: +15 dB or +30 dB. This selection allows the output level to be adapted to the microphone used and the recording context, particularly for sources requiring extra gain.
The DM2 TNT also offers eight input impedance settings, ranging from 50 Ohms to 10 MOhms. This flexibility makes it possible to optimise the match between the preamp and the microphone, which can influence the sound behaviour and response of the microphone.
Its Class A circuit based on FET transistors is designed to amplify the signal without adding any noticeable coloration. The extended frequency response from 10 Hz to 120 kHz preserves the detail of the audio signal.
The compact in-line format with male and female XLR connectors allows simple integration into any audio configuration. The DM2 TNT operates solely from a +48V phantom power supply, which it uses to power its internal circuitry without passing this voltage on to the microphone.
